O-D School Board Accepts $5,000 Donation

Oregon-Davis-Jr_Sr-BuildingThe Oregon-Davis School Board members accepted a $5,000 donation from the Starke County Economic Development Foundation.

Superintendent Greg Briles said the money will be used toward the school’s engineering component in Project Lead the Way.

“This is the first year for Project Lead the Way at Oregon-Davis. All of our courses are toward our eighth, ninth and tenth grade students. What we’re hoping to do is foster a vocational program in the future that will help our students and the other area students that are in our vocational cop-op that will help with the manufacturers in our community to have employees come into them with training,” explained Briles.

Briles added that the goal is to retain students in the community so that they can become citizens who have the opportunity achieve great things and to be the next leaders in the area.
