IU Health Staff Ready to Protect against Ebola

No patients at IU Health Starke Hospital or at IU Health LaPorte Hospital have been diagnosed or treated for Ebola, but the staff is taking steps to protect patients, visitors, team members and the community at large.

As part of the state’s largest academic medical center, IU Health will network with professionals to help prepare and to protect the community, caregivers and patients.

Early identification and containment of the infectious disease, treating a patient with Ebola and ensuring team members have the training necessary to provide quality patient care have been the main focus, according to a hospital news release.

Patients visiting IU Health facilities will experience additional questions about recent travel activity as part of a screening process when being checked into a facility.

Hospital officials ensure that staff members have experience to treat patients with communicable disease and are prepared should a patient with Ebola.
