The Lake County Prosecutor’s Office has yet to file charges in the death of a former Knox resident believed to be the victim of a serial killer. Gary Police found the body of Kristine Williams, 36, in an abandoned house there Sunday night. She’s one of seven women police say Darren Vann, 43, of Gary, has confessed to killing. So far charges have been filed in connection with two of those deaths.

Kristine WilliamsWKVI News spoke Thursday with a representative from the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office. She advised the Gary Police Department has not sent them a report yet in connection with Williams’ death. The investigation into her cause and manner of death is ongoing. Authorities are also trying to determine when she died. Williams had not been reported missing to authorities, and family members say they last heard from her three or four months ago. Vann remains jailed in Lake County, where he’s due back in court today for an initial hearing. He refused to speak during a Wednesday proceeding.

Williams attended Knox High School and would have graduated in 1997. She is the daughter of Knox Planning Commission Board Administrator Bruce Williams.
