Youth Deer Hunting Season Starts Tomorrow

Deer hunters ages 17 or younger can take to the woods this weekend. The state’s two-day youth season is tomorrow and Sunday. Youngsters must possess a hunting license and be accompanied by a licensed adult hunter who is at least 18.

Both must wear hunter orange. The youngster may take an antlered or antlerless deer with a legal firearm, bow and arrow or crossbow. An antlered deer harvested during the youth hunting season counts toward the statewide bag limit of one antlered deer per hunter per season. Antlerless limits vary by county. The adult accompanying the youth deer hunter cannot carry a weapon except a lawfully permitted handgun. Deer can be harvested from one half hour before sunrise until one half hour after sunset.
