NCWTS Crew Chief Suspended

NASCAR handed down a penalty to a Camping World Truck Series team after officials found that the truck failed post-race inspection on Sept. 13 at Chicagoland Speedway.

The No. 20 truck driven by Austin Dillon for NTS Motorsports did not meet post-race body height/ground clearance requirements as outlined in the rule book.

This was crew chief Chris Rice’s second infraction this year. He was on probation through Dec. 31 after a penalty occurred during a NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 15. The applicable Recurrence Multiplier was used in assessing the severity of the penalty which includes a fine of $7,500 and a suspension until Sept. 24. Rice’s probation remains valid until Dec. 31.

Owner Bob Newberry lost 10 series championship owner points as a result of the infraction.
