Public Hearing Set for Fire Station Project in Davis Township

A public hearing is set for Monday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. CT to hear comments on a proposed lease between the Davis Township Building Corporation and Davis Township for a new fire station.

The project includes the construction of a fire station that will house eight fire trucks and an adjacent space for a community center. The new fire station will be located just east of the Starke County Fairgrounds in Hamlet off of Indiana Street.

Davis Township secured the property from the Oregon-Davis Schools for the estimated $750,000 project. Bids will soon be sought after for the project.

Additional information about the project will be available at the public hearing on Aug. 18 at the current fire station on Pearl Street in Hamlet.
