Medaryville Receives Grant for Wastewater Improvement Project

Medaryville Town HallThe town of Medaryville is the recipient of a $450,000 grant from the state Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) for a wastewater system improvement project. The money will be used to build a biodome structure into their current lagoons to meet Indiana Department of Environmental Management standards.

The town will pay for its share of the $800,000 project through the sale of bonds. Medaryville Town Council President Derrick Stalbaum previously told WKVI News taxes will not be going up to pay for the project. Receipt of the grant also means sewage bills will not increase. The project is necessary for the town to comply with Indiana Department of Environmental Management standards and avoid fines of up to $1,500 per day for noncompliance.

State Rep. Doug Gutwein, R-Francesville, says receipt of the grant will allow for long-term community growth and maintenance and will help the town continue to be a great place to live, work and raise a family.
