Indiana is looking at another record year for corn and for soybeans.
Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator at Purdue Extension in Starke County and in Pulaski County Chad Rushing says we should have the same yield potential as last year.
“We’re probably looking at results similar to last year with corn and soybeans both above average,” stated Rushing. “We’ve had some dry spells lately in July and in early August that will prevent corn from kind of going over the top as far as record yields in our area. They will be high again this year as they were last year.”
The unusually cold, wet spring season put a little delay on the start of planting, but rains in the early part of the spring and at the optimal time for growth helped the crops this season.
