Ancilla College and EARN Indiana Partner to Create Area Internships

Nonprofit organizations and some businesses in Starke and Marshall Counties who can’t afford to pay an intern’s salary may qualify for assistance through a partnership between Ancilla College, INTERN.net and EARN Indiana. EARN will pay half of the intern’s wages if the business meets their income guidelines or if the student is EARN eligible. The program is part of Indiana’s financial aid package. Ancilla College Director of Career Services Jim Cawthon says internships are the best way to keep talented college students in the area after graduation. He notes companies can usually attract the best pool of applicants if they pay interns.

Indiana INTERN.net currently connects 6,000 businesses and over 17,000 students statewide. Using their database, you can reach area students who are attending college in other parts of the state and will be returning home for summer opportunities, or you can connect with local students to help you with projects during the fall and spring.

Internships offer many advantages for area businesses. Students can work fall, spring or summer, complete project work that may be on the back burner, act as an extended interview process, reduce recruiting costs, and bring fresh, innovative perspectives to your organization

To register for EARN, businesses and students must register on Indiana INTERN.net, a FREE internship-matching program linking employers and students. It is a dynamic, searchable database to help create or expand high-quality experiential opportunities within Indiana.
