Unemployment Rate Improving

  
 

The unemployment rate for Starke County stands at 6.6 percent which ranks the county 27th in the state.

Pulaski County rose .3 percent in June to 5.0, Marshall County was up .2 percent to 5.7 percent with LaPorte County up to 7.5 percent with a .1 percent increase.

Starke County’s rate had been ranked in the top ten for years. The improvement started in the April report when the rate was at 6.9 percent. In May it fell .3 percent to 6.6 percent and remained unchanged for June.

The state remains below the U.S. rate. The state is at 5.9 percent and the U.S. rate is at 6.1 percent.
