Michigan Man Jailed After Early Morning High-Speed Chase

A Niles, Mich. man who led Marshall County Police on a high-speed chase through downtown Lapaz early this morning is in jail. A patrolman spotted a car southbound on U.S. 31 at speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour at 2:17 a.m. The officer tried to stop the 2008 Audi, according to a news release, but the driver continued down 31 at speeds greater than 100 miles per hour.

Police used stop sticks at the intersection of U.S. 31 and U.S. 30 to flatten the car’s tires, and it was finally stopped at the intersection of U.S. 31 and 9A Road. The driver, Baljinder Singh, was arrested without further incident. He’s charged with a felony offense of resisting law enforcement and misdemeanor courts of operating while intoxicated and public intoxication.
