LaPorte Police Respond to Report of Unsupervised Child

LaPorte Police responded Saturday afternoon to a home in the 100 block of Whispering Boulevard when the homeowner found an unattended 4-year-old boy trying to get into her swimming pool. She told police she saw the boy climb her privacy fence and intercepted him before he got into the water. He could not tell the officers where he lived, according to a news release.

They drove around the area with the boy, and several neighborhood children said he lived at a home in the 100 block of Greenwood Avenue. The child’s father was working outside and told the officers he thought the boy was inside with his mother. She said she thought he was outside with his father. Police say the youngster had been missing for 25 minutes when they brought him home. The news release indicates the child wandered into the street when they were talking to his parents. They reportedly told the officers he’s hard to watch. A copy of the incident report has been forwarded to the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
