The summer cool program is about to begin.
Community Services of Starke County, Pulaski County Human Services, Inc., and North Central Community Action Agencies, Inc. will accept applications starting July 1. Residents must bring in income information for the past year for each member of the household, a current utility bill, a lease if the home is rented, and a social security card for each household member. New applicants may start calling June 23 to schedule an appointment for July. The program will run through Aug. 15.
The program will only provide one air conditioning unit per eligibility. Air conditioners will be available on a first come, first served basis.
The household must meet certain guidelines. The members must be financially eligible, a resident in the home is elderly or a child is present who is under the age of six and have a verified life-threatening illness. Air conditioner certification affidavit forms must be completed by a doctor or nurse practitioner.
