Plans Finalized for Local Jimmy Buffett “Live at the Drive-In” Event

Live at the Drive InParrotheads will be flocking to the Melody Drive-In Theater in Bass Lake in droves on Thursday to catch perennial beach bum Jimmy Buffett’s “Live at the Drive-In” simulcast show. He’s performing at a theater in Fort Worth, Texas and making a closed-circuit feed of the show available exclusively to similar venues. Melody Drive-In owner Fred Heise says the gates will open at 5 p.m., with plenty of pre-show activities and entertainment for fans.

“We’ve got music presented to us from Region DJ’s, who are also going to be doing karaoke while they’re out there. We’ve got virgin margaritas and some Cheeseburgers in Paradise in our snack bar. To top everything off, to end the show that evening, everyone who’s in attendance will be treated to a fireworks show presented by Double- D Fireworks,” Heise said.

Alcohol will not be served at the venue since the show is open to fans of all ages. Heise says patrons can bring their own, but he reminds them to designate a driver to ensure they get home safely. Children under 10 will be admitted free. Heise says plenty of entertainment for all ages will be available prior to the show, which should start at 7:45 p.m. Plans include several sets of boards for bean bag toss games, contests, giveaways, karaoke and more.

Tickets are available at the Melody Drive-In during business hours or can be purchased through their website, http://www.melodydrivein.com/. All tickets bought through the website will be at the will-call window the evening of the show.
