LaPorte Officer Resigns, Investigation Launched into Missing F.O.P. Funds

A LaPorte City Police officer resigned his position with the police department amid an investigation into stolen funds with the Fraternal Order of Police.

According to LaPorte Police Chief Adam Klimczak, the F.O.P. leadership found that officer Mark Bishop reportedly had been using F.O.P. funds for personal reasons. Several thousands of dollars are not accounted for.

Chief Klimczak has ordered an investigation into the matter to be conducted by the Indiana State Police. He explained that it is standard operating procedure that an outside agency such as the state police be called in to conduct a criminal investigation to allow for total transparency.

Chief Klimczak stated that the officers throughout the entire department are disappointed in the decisions made by one of their own.
