Couple Files Same-Sex Marriage License in Starke County

  
 

The Starke County Clerk’s office has had only one same-sex marriage license issued and that was filed on Wednesday afternoon – shortly after the federal appeals court struck down Indiana’s ban on same-sex marriage on constitutional grounds on Wednesday afternoon.

Dustin J. Pych of Knox and David S. Pike of LaCrosse filed the application in the Starke County Clerk’s office.

A same-sex couple was married in Marshall County on Thursday afternoon.

Several counties in Indiana have reported the issuance of same-sex marriage licenses in the last two days.

Attorney General Greg Zoeller‘s office is asking an appeals court to stay the court order while considering the state‘s appeal.

According to a Network Indiana report, Indiana Senate President Pro Tem David Long of Fort Wayne says its likely that the decision will be headed to the supreme court.
