LaPorte County Officers to Participate in Click it or Ticket Campaign

The LaPorte County law enforcement agencies will be participating in the Click it or Ticket campaign that begins Friday, May 9 through Sunday, June 1.

This blitz will focus on seat belt and child restraint infractions. If you are not wearing a seat belt or passengers and children are not properly restrained, you will receive a ticket.

Indiana’s current seat belt usage is 93.2 percent. LaPorte County Sheriff’s Captain Heath Haferkamp believes that a significant number of drivers are at an increased risk for death or injury because they do not take the time to buckle their seat belt.

Special patrols will be conducted 24 hours a day.

Officers from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan City Police Department and the LaPorte City Police Department are among 250 agencies across the state participating in this blitz.
