Winter Weather Expected This Weekend

A winter storm is expected to impact the area this weekend, with snow beginning to fall tonight and continuing through Sunday night. Forecasters predict total accumulation to come to around four to six inches, with higher amounts possibly to the south of Fulton County.

The winds do not appear to be causing any excessive blowing or drifting of snow, so officials do not expect the wind to cause any significant issues as it has with the last several snow events.

If you will be traveling during this snow event, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. It’s also a good idea to take blankets, a snow shovel, kitty litter to use for traction should you get stuck and enough warm clothes to walk a mile should that be necessary. As always, the WKVI Information Center will be staffed to bring you the very latest on this severe weather.

The winter storm watch is effective from 1 a.m. ET Sunday through 7 a.m. ET Monday.
