LaPorte County Corrections Inmate Arrested on Several Drug Charges

A LaPorte County Community Corrections inmate was arrested Tuesday, March 11 after police reportedly found drugs in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Ronald E. Robinson, 56, was stopped along U.S. 35 north of Johnson Road and when the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department K9 conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle, the dog alerted to the presence of narcotics.

A search was conducted in which officers allegedly found crack cocaine, heroin and a Schedule III Controlled Substance.

Robinson was arrested and taken to the LaPorte County Jail on preliminary charges of Dealing Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug (heroin), a Class A felony; Dealing Cocaine or Narcotic Drug, a Class B felony; Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class D felony; and two counts of Possession of a Legend Drug, a Class D felony.

LaPorte County Community Corrections and investigators from the LaPorte County Metro Operations Unit have been investigating the distribution of narcotics and illegal drugs in and around the LaPorte area and this arrest is the result of one investigation.
