Pulaski County may soon be outsourcing their property tax statements after the commissioners this week authorized Treasurer Lynn Wilder to contract with Master’s Touch, a printing company, to print and send tax statements this year. Wilder approached the commissioners and said she was interested in outsourcing the paperwork to save money and said there were a number of other benefits as well.
“I would like to consider outsourcing. I do believe that it’s obvious that we can save money, and I can list probably 20 other reasons why it’s advantageous. They can give us a superior product, they can do it to color, I have choices of different formats, they can do the printing in a day and it takes me three weeks from start to finish to get it out the door,” said Wilder.
Pulaski County has never before outsourced their property tax billing, but Wilder said it’s a benefit to taxpayers. She said it costs less, and even if her department has underestimated the number of parcels for which statements need to be printed, there is some wiggle room in the finances.
The money is available in her budget for the printing to be done, but she said she must approach the council for transfers to consolidate funds from the postage, envelopes, and tax statement line items.
Commissioner Terry Young made a motion to authorize her to outsource the tax billing to services like Peak Support. The motion was approved unanimously.
