Medaryville Fire Station Project Slowly Moving Forward

The Medaryville Fire Department officials are moving forward with a new fire station.

Fire Chief Shaun Hauptli told WKVI that this year will be an opportunity to raise the necessary funds for the project and if all of the matching grant money can be collected, construction could begin next year.

The town of Medaryville has already been helpful in securing $10,000 for the fire department in order to purchase a building and lot adjacent to the current fire house. The building will be razed to make way for an expanded building. The new firehouse is expected to be built at the current location at the corner of Main and National Streets.

The fire department has secured Territorial Engineering to help with a design.

Hauptli said the fire department needs to secure at least $400,000 to provide a match for the grant. The total cost of the project will be close to $700,000. A fund will be set up at a local bank in order to hold the funds collected to obtain the grant.
