Man Attempts to Get Cash from Fraudulent Debit Cards

Fraudulent debit cards were reportedly presented at Horizon Bank on Lincolnway on Monday by a man attempting to get cash.

A bank attendant told LaPorte police that an African American male asked for $750 in cash from each of the two debit cards presented to her. He provided an Illinois Driver’s License under the name “Jarrien C. Jones”.

The attendant told police that the debit cards looked and felt fraudulent and the man acted suspiciously. She asked him if he could walk up to an ATM to withdraw the cash. She explained to the suspect that the bank did not have an walk-up ATM.

After the suspect observed the attendant inspecting the cards, he walked out of the bank.

Police learned that the suspect along with another man may have been inside a nearby smoke shop after the incident. The suspect’s car was described as a gray Infinity bearing Illinois license plates.
