Gregory Schweisthal Trial Continues in Starke Circuit Court

 
 

A trial in Starke Circuit Court is headed into its third day today.

Gregory Schweisthal is facing charges of Rape as a Class B felony, two counts of Invasion of Privacy as a Class D felony, Strangulation as a Class D felony, and Domestic Battery as a Class A misdemeanor.

The state has called almost a dozen people to testify in this case, including the alleged victim, the victim’s daughter and her friend, Starke County Sheriff’s Department detective Rob Olejniczak, officer Kelly Fisher, two Indiana State Police officials, plus others.

The State, represented by Chief Deputy Prosecutor Mary Ryan, will call two or three more witnesses to the stand when the trial resumes this morning. Schweisthal’s defense attorney, Timothy Lemon, will also call a few witnesses to the stand in today’s session.

The jury may deliberate a verdict yet today.
