Candidate Filings Guarantee Sheriff’s Races in May and November

Starke County voters will narrow the field of nominees to replace term-limited Sheriff Oscar Cowen in May and select his replacement in November. Deputy William “Bill” Dulin is the latest candidate to file his intention to seek that office, according to a list provided to WKVI news by the Starke County Clerk’s Office late Friday afternoon. He will face Democrat Harold Smith in the May 6 primary. Republicans Billy Bope and Greg Wireman have also filed their candidacy for Starke County Sheriff.

Incumbent Starke County Assessor Rhonda Milner has also filed for reelection. She’s a Democrat and is the lone candidate for that office so far. Starke County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas Allen Bourff also filed his candidacy for reelection with the secretary of state’s office. He’s completing his first term as prosecutor.

In Pulaski County, deputy prosecutor Blair Todd is seeking the Republican Party nomination for prosecuting attorney. So is former prosecutor and Winamac attorney Daniel P. Murphy. No other candidate filings from Pulaski County were provided to WKVI News as of the close of business on Friday, Jan. 24.

A complete list of candidates who have filed as of Friday, Jan. 24 is below. Candidates have until Friday, Feb. 7 at noon to file. WKVI news will update the list each Monday.
