Salt Shed Construction for North Judson Delayed to Jan. 14

Because the salt shed construction for the town of North Judson has been delayed, Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry said the town board this week was forced to encumber the funds allocated to the project to allow the construction to take place in January. She said a shortage in crew members caused the project to be delayed until Jan. 14.

Because the project will not be completed this year as previously predicted, and the town cannot pay for it until it’s done, Henry said they had to encumber the funds through to next year.

Henry said ClearSpan is constructing the structure for the shed, but due to a shortage of crew members, the work had to be postponed. The concrete floor for the salt shed had previously been finished, followed by the installation of cement blocks on the floor. ClearSpan was then expected to construct the structure for the shed. Materials for the building were to be delivered on Nov. 27 with construction previously expected to begin on Dec. 3.
