The water project in the town of Winamac is finally complete, but Town Manager Jim Conner said there will be a few maintenance items to address come spring. The town council this week approved the final payouts for the water project they’ve been working on this summer and all the work is finally complete.

Conner said some seeding and restoration will need done after the winter season comes to a close, but the main water lines have been installed and all houses have been connected to the new line. The project consisted of the installation of nearly a mile of new water line to replace older lines that were around 70 years old, according to Conner.

A lot of the lines that were replaced were old three-inch lines that were getting harder and harder to fix. The town elected to replace the line with a six-inch pipe along Riverside Drive and Monticello, Market and Hathaway streets.
