Demotte Man Sentenced on Possession of Child Pornography Charge

A Demotte man was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison and five years of supervised release after pleading guilty to Possession of Child Pornography.

Matthew Jasek, 31, admitted in a Hammond federal court that he possessed over 600 child pornography images and he distributed some of the material through a file sharing program.

Court documents indicate that he admitted that he had been interested in child pornography for eight years and received and possessed child pornography through several peer-to-peer file sharing programs. He said that he had searched for child pornography as often as twice a week.

An investigation by members of the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, including the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigation resulted in the prosecution of this case.
