Be Safe in Your Holiday Travels

The Christmas season is a time for holiday cheer and holiday traffic.

Officers from all police departments will be out on patrol to ensure our roadways are safe from impaired drivers. Police will also be watching for unrestrained motorists. Make sure you get plenty of rest before you leave on your travels and pack an emergency kit in your vehicle that includes water, food, blankets, jumper cables, and flashlights.

If you see a vehicle and you suspect the driver may be impaired, call 911 and be prepared to give a detailed description of the vehicle and the area in which you are driving.

Most construction projects will be suspended during the holiday so watch for barriers or other obstacles on your route. If you’re traveling in the central or southern part of the state this Christmas, watch out for high water signs and flooded roads.
