Though the library has been closed for three days this week, the Starke County Public Library has a busy month ahead of it. Rachael Herbert-Varchetto, program coordinator at the library, said there are a number of big things coming up this month, including a discussion with author Amanda Barber.

Barber will discuss her novel, “The Pursuit of Elizabeth Millhouse,” and its journey to publication. She hopes to encourage other writers who seek to get their stories in print. The discussion will take place Nov. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, the library is still working on getting the new children’s wing up and running. Herbert-Varchetto said there were a couple issues, but everything has since been sorted out and the new wing looks great. She said the Westville Correctional Facility has lent a few helping hands to move shelves and relocate books and perform other work. The grand opening for the new wing is planned for Dec. 7.
