Rensselaer Author Releasing Book This Week

A Rensselaer author is preparing for the nationwide release this week of her new children’s fiction, “I Am Not A Pirate,” the tale of a young girl struggling to build her self esteem.

The story tells more about how certain social issues can easily lower the self-confidence of a child, taken on the account of the author’s daughter. In the book, Maddie is excited to start school until she learns she has to go to the eye doctor. When she finds out she has to wear an eye patch, she thinks things can’t get any worse. The story tells how Maddie will gain the confidence she needs to face her new friends at school.

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book is available through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.

The author, Shannon Anderson, holds a master’s degree in education and extra licensure to teach gifted and talented students. She also teaches Spanish part-time at Saint Joseph’s College. She wrote this book based on her daughter Madison’s experiences wearing an eye patch.
