Bojcev said the county road suffers from not only speeders, but trucks that travel on it and use loud brakes that disturb the residents in the area. He said there is an ordinance in place mandating a 25 mph speed limit on the road, but Sheriff Mike Gayer said that speed limit sign was handwritten and not official. Bojcev, however, disagreed; he said the sign used to be official but a drunk driver knocked down the original sign and it was never replaced, prompting a resident to erect a new one.
Gayer went on to say that putting up a new speed limit sign likely wouldn’t have much of an impact on the speeders in the area, but speed bumps would likely help. Commissioner Larry Brady made a motion to table the matter for further discussion and research into the speed limit on the road. The motion was approved unanimously.
