The North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation is moving toward the future as they plan to undergo upgrades to their network infrastructure this weekend. Superintendent Lynn Johnson said that because of the increase in technology being used by students, teachers, administrators and everyone else on a daily basis, the networking infrastructure in place throughout the corporation is no longer able to suit their needs. Because of that, the corporation must undergo the upgrade in order to keep up with the demands of technology.

Johnson told WKVI that Micro Integration, a South Bend company, will begin updating the school’s technology infrastructure this weekend, beginning Friday and finishing Saturday. Johnson said the idea of updating the network came about when the board realized that trying to stay up-to-date by updating one piece at a time was no longer cutting it.

Though the upgrade boasts a hefty price tag, $130,000, Johnson said it will help facilitate a move toward a one-to-one technology initiative in the future. Teachers were given iPads this year and students may receive iPads in the future, Johnson said, and with more and more courses being offered online, having this infrastructure in place with devices for students to use opens more options for education.
