LaPorte police are attempting to apprehend two women who are stealing cartons of cigarettes from gas stations.
A woman went into the Marathon gas station on State Road 2 in LaPorte County and requested two cartons of cigarettes. The clerk placed the cartons on the counter to ring them up, but the suspect grabbed them and ran out of the store.
The woman was described as Caucasian, approximately 5’5”, blonde hair and a skinny build. She jumped into a maroon-colored hatchback-type vehicle with a plate number of UPC581. The vehicle was last seen traveling east on State Road 2.
This isn’t the first incident this woman and another have been a part of. Just a little while later, police learned that two women stole two cartons of cigarettes from a gas station on Pine Lake Avenue in the same fashion.
Similar incidents have been reported in Chesterton and Portage. The incidents are still under investigation by law enforcement.
