LaPorte County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse to Participate in Training

The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse Unit will be conducting training this weekend and you are invited to watch the training.

The training will be today and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds. These sessions will focus on short classroom session and practical horsemanship skills and tactics the remainder of each day.

Instructor Mark Waller was a 28-year member of the London, England Metropolitan Mounted Branch. In his career, he was assigned to Buckingham Palace and led his unit during two Royal weddings and a number of celebration escorts for the Royal family. He has numerous commendations for bravery and meritorious actions.

Waller is the Director of Horsemanship Instruction at Culver Military Academy. He led the Culver Black Horse Troop during the 2009 and 2013 Presidential inaugural parades.

The LaPorte County Mounted Posse is a 17-member volunteer organization that is called upon to assist the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department in searching for missing or endangered people. The members often assist with crowd control or with traffic direction.
