If you receive an email from security@wellsfargo with a subject of “Wells Fargo Notification” with a message ID number, do not open it.
While the email includes a Wells Fargo logo and looks official, it is not.
The email suggests that the bank’s technical department is performing an alert upgrade to improve the security of the online banking notifications as part of the bank’s enhanced security measures. It also states that it’s a mandatory evaluation exercise. The email invites you to click on a link to recover a substantial credit in your favor. It asks you to click on a link to validate your details and enable the upgrade and credit your account.
Police warn that if you click on the link and input your personal and banking information, thieves will steal that information and steal money from you.
