State Parks Remain Open During Govt. Shutdown, Unemployment Services Continue

Despite the shutdown of the federal government, all state parks in the state remain open.

National wildlife refuges and national parks are closed, but that doesn’t affect the state’s 24 state parks and eight reservoir properties. These state wonders remain open, just in time for the fall colors to show their beauty.

Daily gate feeds for in-state residents are only $5 per carload at most properties.

Those wondering about unemployment vouchers and applying for unemployment, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, its WorkOne centers and regional partners will continue operations as usual. This includes all unemployment insurance activities and training and education programs. A spokesperson said these services will remain available for the foreseeable future regardless of the partial federal government shutdown.
