Marshall County Commissioners Get Update from Highway Superintendent

Marshall County Highway Superintendent Neal Haeck reported on the current status on the 7th Road project at the recent commissioners meeting. Officials will soon be discussing contracts with USI Consultants to get the project started. Construction and engineering costs will be two things that will need to be discussed.

Haeck also asked to fill two vacancies coming in the highway department. One of his employees is leaving Nov. 8 and the other on Dec. 30. He’ll be looking for replacements to do drainage work, tile work, bridge work, culvert work and a parts manager, among other duties. The commissioners approved the request to fill those vacancies. The budget for those positions will not change for 2014.

This is the last Saturday to pick up free dirt north of the Marshall County Jail facility. Haeck told the commissioners that the promotion has been a positive event for the residents. They hope to continue it next year.
