Two Bridge Projects Still on Track, Says INDOT Representative

Two construction projects in the area are moving along, according to an INDOT representative who said the U.S. 6 bridge work south of LaPorte and the bridge work on U.S. 35 south of U.S. 30 are moving along, still on track to be completed in November.

Matt Deitchley, media relations director for INDOT, told WKVI that the U.S. 6 bridge work is progressing and crews are working on the walls to strengthen the support of the bridge and the piers. Though there have been some short delays due to utility companies failing to relocate in a timely fashion, he said the project is still on track to be complete by Thanksgiving.

The U.S. 35 bridge project is moving along as well, he said, and crews are working on the walls to support the bridge and the piers as well. The project is on schedule and expected to be open by the end of November. Crews are replacing the bridge that goes over the CSX railway with an official detour still in place. If you are traveling north on U.S. 35, the official detour takes you west on State Road 8, north on State Road 39, east on U.S. 30 and back to U.S. 35. If you are traveling south on U.S. 35, you will be detoured west on U.S. 30, south on State Road 39, east on State Road 8 and back to U.S. 35.
