Two Arrested on Forgery Charges

 
 
Two Plymouth residents were arrested Sunday after a forgery investigation was launched.

On Friday, Sept. 20, officers at the Plymouth Police Department received a call regarding suspected counterfeit checks being used to make purchases at Murphy USA.

After three personal checks were examined, Plymouth police detectives determined that the checks were counterfeit.

The suspect, Rachel Ford Hatton, 34, had previously been arrested on a charge of forgery associated with the manufacturing and use of business checks in Plymouth and it was through that investigation that she was properly identified in security footage. Hatton had been released from the Marshall County Jail on Sept. 12 with a sentence of time served and no probation.

She returned to Murphy USA on Sunday, Sept. 22 and she was attempting to use another counterfeit check. It was then police arrived at the business and Hatton was taken into custody.

Hatton and another occupant in the vehicle, Albert L. Graham, 49, were arrested in the incident. Formal charges have been filed which include three counts of Forgery as a Class C felony, three counts of Theft as a Class D felony and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Forgery as a Class C felony. They are being held in the Marshall County Jail with a cash bond of $10,000.
