Starke Council, Commissioners to Meet Tonight

  
 
The Starke County Council will meet today at 5:30 p.m. prior to the 7 p.m. commissioners meeting to discuss a number of items, including the resignation and new appointment of a PTABOA board member, a transfer request from Surveyor Dennis Estok, adoption of the county’s 2014 budgets and the 2014 salary ordinance.

In addition, a request for appropriation will be considered for Linda Molinda of Drug and Tobacco Free Starke County, and the council will hold non-binding reviews of other taxing units’ 2014 budgets. Finally, they will discuss the sheriff’s department’s pension plan and future sheriff’s salaries. 1st Choice Insurance will also make a presentation.

Afterward, the commissioners will hear a presentation from representatives of Skillman and DLZ regarding the final design and estimate for approval and authorization to issue construction bids for the new Starke County Jail facility. Following that, a public hearing will be held regarding the jail project lease, authorizing the executive of the lease. The commissioners will also vote on the council redistricting plan, hold a public hearing regarding a golf cart ordinance, and discuss a contract for a hospital consultant.

Other agenda items include the 2012 SBOA audit report and the status of IDEM compliance at the old county landfill site.
