Pulaski County Health Department to Hold Flu Shot Clinics in October

It’s never too early to prevent the flu.

Flu season typically doesn’t hit the peak until February or March, but an annual flu vaccination can help with flu-related complications that could lead to hospitalization and even death.

The number of people recommended for flu vaccinations has grown steadily over the past few years. Scientists and public health experts came to recognize that while influenza is particularly dangerous for certain people, it can cause severe illness and even death for anyone.

Pulaski County Health Department officials say the flu vaccine is the first and best way to prevent influenza and is particularly important in people who are at higher risk of serious flu complications. Vaccines are available from your doctor or local health department and at many retail pharmacies.

The Pulaski County Health Department will hold a flu shot clinic on Tuesday, Oct. 1 through Thursday, Oct. 3. More specifics have not yet been released but if you have questions call (574) 946-6080 or keep up to date on their Facebook page.
