North Judson 2014 Budget Passed, Now Goes to DLGF

The second budget workshop held by the North Judson Town Board to review their 2014 budget brought out no members of the public, despite being an open workshop. Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry said the meeting lasted about a half hour and included a few minor changes, including the division of two appropriation accounts.

Henry said the EDIT fund and Rainy Day fund were split to allow for more specific expenditures; specifically, the EDIT funds were split into three line items: building improvement and repairs, miscellaneous expenses, and street construction and improvement. The Rainy Day fund was split into repairs and equipment, and other capital expenses.

Henry said she also added one account for law enforcement funds that the town periodically receives, but because they previously had no account established for the funds, they did not have authority to spend the money. Now, she said, the account has been created and those funds are opened up.

The council approved those changes, and Henry said the public legal advertisement will now go to the Department of Local Government Finance, and, once a public hearing is held on Sept. 16, the adoption public hearing will take place on Oct. 7. Following that, all the budget forms and the resolution will go to the DLGF for approval.
