No Injuries Reported From Residential Fire in Hamlet

The Hamlet Fire Department was called to a residential house fire Wednesday night.

Fire Chief Bob Goetz told WKVI that firefighters were dispatched to a location on 400 North and when they arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the structure. The Knox-Center Township Fire Department was called for mutual aid and the Koontz Lake Fire Department was called to cover the Hamlet Fire Department.

Goetz added that the fire was extinguished in approximately 45 minutes and the cause is undetermined at this time. The homeowners were not at the residence at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

A representative from the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office will be on the scene today (Friday) to make a cause determination.
