LaPorte Teenagers Arrested after Theft Incidents

Two teenaged boys were taken into custody after reportedly stealing items from several vehicles in the early morning hours on Wednesday.

LaPorte police officers received numerous complaints from residents about unlawful entry into their vehicles. One victim gave police a description of a suspect and the suspect was located with a case in his hand that matched the description of one of the stolen items. The suspect reportedly told police that he found the case lying abandoned and did not know what was inside it. The case contained various cell phones, iPods and car chargers.

As officers were placing that 16-year-old suspect into custody, they observed a second male ducking behind a tree. He then fled when he was spotted by police. The 17-year-old kept running even when ordered to stop by police. After a brief foot pursuit, officers found the teen in possession of several stolen items.

Police recovered various electronic items, stereo face plates, iPods, cell phones, car chargers and several other items.

The pair received preliminary charges of Receiving Stolen Property, a violation of ABC acts and curfew. The 17-year-old has an additional preliminary charge of Resisting Law Enforcement. They are being held in the Juvenile Justice Center.
