Daymond Hartley Sentenced in Pulaski Circuit Court

An entry of plea and sentencing hearing was held in Pulaski Circuit Court yesterday in the case of former Winamac police officer Daymond Hartley.

Hartley pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state on a charge of Theft as a Class D felony. He was sentenced to 18 months in the Pulaski County Jail with all but 60 days of the sentence suspended. Those 60 days will be served in the Pulaski County Jail with good time served. Work release was granted, if applicable.

After Hartley serves his sentence, he will be placed on probation for 16 months. No restitution was ordered in this case.

Hartley will surrender himself to the Pulaski County Jail on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. ET to serve his sentence.

Hartley was summoned to appear in Pulaski Circuit Court in May after he admitted to Winamac Police Chief Michael Buchanan that he stole $6,352 from an evidence locker in March in order to pay for a dental procedure for his mother. He returned every cent to Buchanan. Hartley later resigned from the Winamac Police Department.
