Big Changes in Methamphetamine Laws Take Effect

The laws regarding sale of methamphetamine precursors and other changes to the criminal code involving methamphetamine are in effect.

Indiana State Police troopers want you to realize that the quantity of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine sales has changed. You may not purchase more than 3.6 grams of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine in one day, 7.2 grams of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine in a 30-day period or 61.2 grams or ephedrine or pseudoephedrine in a year.

If you have been convicted of dealing in methamphetamine, or have been convicted in the possession of more than ten grams of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine or phenylpropanolamine, possession of anhydrous ammonia solution with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of two or more chemical reagents or precursors with the intent to manufacture a controlled substance, or unlawful sale of a precursor from possession of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine within seven years of your sentence, you may face an additional charge.

It is also illegal for you to sell, transfer, distribute, or furnish a chemical reagent or precursor to another person with the knowledge or the intent that the recipient will use the chemical reagent or precursors to manufacture a controlled substance.

Call the Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Tip Line if you suspect possession, distribution or the manufacture of methamphetamine at 1-800-453-4756.
