Winamac Power from the Past to Continue as Planned

The 36th Annual Power from the Past show is a go after some concerns were addressed regarding flooding at the Winamac Town Park. Robert Smith, announcer for the event, said there were rumors that the river was too high and the grounds was too wet to accommodate the event, but thanks to decent weather, the flooding concerns have been laid to rest.

Smith said that while the fairgrounds were flooded and the fair parade was shortened, as well as some events postponed, the fairgrounds have dried out enough for the antique power show.

The Power from the Past antique engine and tractor show aims to preserve, rejuvenate and display antique farm machinery and any other form of machinery utilized in the growth of our country.

A variety of daily events are planned, including corn shredder threshing, a flea market, old craft demonstrations and exhibits of a saw mill, steam engines, gas engines, tractors, collectible garden tractors and other antiques. On top of that, antiques and collectibles will be available for viewing.

Antique motorcycles will also be on display, and visitors can go on hay rides throughout the event. At 1:30 p.m. each day, children’s games will take place in Building 8, and a variety of tractor games, wheat weaving and crosscut saw contests are also planned.
