Two plea agreements were rejected by Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall on Thursday and both cases were set for trial in September.

Michael Wireman, 30 of Medaryville, was set to plead guilty in a plea agreement with the state, but he did not satisfy a portion of the terms of that agreement before the sentencing hearing. In the agreement, it stated that the defendant shall be evaluated with written notice of acceptance into the Starke County Community Corrections home detention program and he did not set up an appointment for evaluation.

Wireman told Judge Hall that he had a month to get the evaluation done, but did not do it. With that, Judge Hall rejected his plea agreement and set a trial date of Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 9 a.m.

Sadie Wireman, 51 of Medaryville, was to plead guilty to a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine but Judge Hall rejected her plea agreement as she admitted to him that she reportedly didn’t know what the drug was. Judge Hall stated that he couldn’t accept her plea of guilty on this charge if she doesn’t really know if methamphetamine was in her possession. The element of her charge includes the fact that she “knowingly and intentionally” possessed methamphetamine and said she wasn’t sure if she knowingly possessed the drug at the time of her arrest.

She told the judge that her son was arrested at their home and she was at the home cleaning after the incident when the police came back and arrested her.

Sadie Wireman’s trial has been set for Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 9 a.m.
