The Pulaski County Highway Department is in the process of updating their road inventory through the state. According to Mark Fox, highway superintendent, more state funds will soon make their way to the county’s coffers after he found discrepancies between the state’s road inventory for Pulaski County and the county’s road inventory, totaling 12 miles of road that were not accounted for by the state.

Fox explained that he compared the state GIS records to the local GIS records and found 46 sections of road that were not in the state’s inventory, preventing roughly $25,000 per year from being funded to the county. Fox said that he is now updating the state on the discrepancies and hopes to have that completed soon.

The county commissioners commended Fox on his find.

Fox also presented the commissioners with a cover sheet for the Bridge 268 project, which entails construction of a new deck for the bridge. Fox said the bridge schedule calls for bids to be opened for the project on Aug. 19. The commissioners approved a motion to sign the notice to be sent to potential bidders.
