Plea Agreement Proposed for Murder Suspect Kathleen Holt

The Starke County prosecutor and the attorneys for Kathleen Holt have reached a proposed plea agreement.

Prosecutor Nicholas Bourff stated that the agreement has yet to be reduced to writing and to be heard in a formal court setting. The proposed agreement would have Holt pleading guilty to a charge of Murder with a minimum sentence of 45 years and the maximum sentence of 55 years. As part of the plea agreement, she would be giving up her right to appeal the sentence.

A plea and sentencing hearing is scheduled in Starke Circuit Court for Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 1:30 p.m.

Holt was arrested on the murder charge on Feb. 13 of this year after she reportedly called the Starke County Sheriff’s Department to report that she shot her boyfriend, 51-year-old Ron Worker, at their home at 1740 S. 500 E. in Knox. Holt allegedly shot Worker once in the chest and he died of severe blood loss.

She has pleaded not guilty in the case.
